What is Spinning?
Spinning is an aerobic exercise that takes place on a specially designed stationary bicycle that allows each rider to control the tension and speed. As you pedal, motivating music plays, and the instructor guides you through a series of hills, sprints and jumps. During the class the pace will vary – at times requiring you to pedal as quickly as you can, at times encouraging you to crank up the tension and ride more slowly in a standing position. Simultaneously, you will experience a group ride where you cannot help but feed off the energy in the filled room, and an individual ride where you can focus outwardly on your personal goals. Spinning also burns serious calories (about 500 in 45 minutes)! This awesome aerobic workout makes your heart pump fast and tones your quads, outer thigh muscles, abs, buttocks and arms like nobody's business! And although you follow the general instructions of the Spinning teacher, you are always in control. You can finish a Spin class, regardless of your fitness level, simply by adjusting your pace or the tension knob on the bike.
