Pilates Class Descriptions
Pilates
Pilates is a series of whole body exercises designed to build strength while developing balance and flexibility. Primarily, these exercises focus on the body’s abdominal and back muscles and on spinal mobility. The majority of the exercises are done on one’s back, promoting core strength in a supported position. Pilates is excellent for all levels of fitness and can be tailored to suit almost any physical limitation.
Yoga/Pilates Fusion (Y/P Fusion)
A total body and mind workout that combines the best of yoga and Pilates. Combinations of poses, exercises and breathwork strengthens the body, enhances flexibility and provides and a unique exercise experience. This class pays particular attention to building strength and endurance of the core postural muscles to gain stability helping to protect the spine against injury, enhancing posture and creating a fit, streamlined shape. All levels welcome.
Pilates Flow
An intense mat workout focusing on (but not limited to) the abdominal and back muscles. This class is a perfect precursor to Spin.
Pilates Fundamentals
Review the fundamental postures of Classical Pilates, perfect for first time Pilates students or those who haven't practiced in a while. This 1/2 hour session is not a workout per se, but rather an opportunity to learn or review the fundamentals that will make your Pilates workout safe and effective. This class is COMPLIMENTARY to any Focus Fitness Member.
